Genes in Contigs: Chromosome V

Column 2 shows contigs, including gaps and overlaps, ordered by chromosome arm. The orientations of previously unattached contigs are shown relative to the supercontigs in which they are now incorporated; for details see Revised supercontig list, telomere locations. In columns 4 and 5, genes named in publications or GenBank entries are listed according to the position of the most closely corresponding autocalled gene.

Notes
The methods of Li et al. (se refs. 1088, 1200) lead to the conclusion that supercontig 6 has been mis-assembled, since contig 216, which ends in telomere T1, overlaps contig 91, and this combination is a better fit to the end of chromosome VIII-L.
The linkage map for this chromosome supports splitting of supercontig 6 into two fragments 6a and 6b, separated by the nucleolus organizer, a fragment of which is seen at the end of contig 90, but is not otherwise represented in the Broad Institute genome.
The placing of contig 226 at the end of V-R is hypothetical: contigs 89-90 show multiple links to a TC11-type TelContig and are therefore shown here linked to contig 226, carrying the only remaining unlocated copy of that sequence.
