Official FGSC numbers for Aspergillus strains all begin with the character "A"

Unless indicated otherwise, most A. nidulans mutant strains contain the mutant allele veA1 at the ANID_01052.1 (velvet) locus.
veA+ is used to indicate the wild-type allele. Please refer to Han, et al (2010) Simple identification of veA1 mutation in Aspergillus nidulans. J Microbiol. 2010 Dec;48(6):885-7.
