Mutants have altered enzyme (912). Sensitive to chlorate on both ammonium and glutamate; resistant to chlorate on glutamine (292). NADPH-nitrate reductase, NAD(P)H-nitrite reductase, and uricase are freed from repression by ammonium or glutamate but not glutamine in the gln-1a mutant (291, 294, 836, 1118). Allele gln-1b is more derepressed than allele R1015 (called gln-1a) (292, 837). For interaction with am, see reference 503. Formerly called glm (869).
