Linked to mt (5%), probably to the left (637).En(pdx);pdx-1 double mutants, grown on Vogel medium (1103) or on Westergaard and Mitchell medium (1134) supplemented with ammonium sulfate at 5 g/liter but not at 1 g/liter, excrete yellow pigment into the medium. This property is not shown by either single mutant (637). The addition of a nonlimiting concentration of pyridoxine inhibits production of the pigment on both media. Production of the pigment is also inhibited in heterokaryons between complementing pdx alleles. En is dominant over En+ in heterokaryons between noncomplementing pdx alleles (847).
