cultural_requirements: Unmapped. Encodes acetate metabolism transcriptional activator; a zinc-finger protein that binds upstream of acu genes. Mutants isolated through RIP show a reduction in growth on acetate. Unlike the facB mutants of Aspergillus, they are not appreciably more resistant to fluoroacetate than is wild type. When transferred to acetate growth medium, they do, however, show weak induction of acetyl-CoA synthetase and poor induction of the glyoxylate enzymes.
