On sucrose media, it forms dotlike granular colonies of irregular budding vesicular elements. On permissive media, made either with acetate (plus alpha-ketoglutarate, succinate, malate, or certain amino acids) or with amino acids as carbon and nitrogen sources, it forms hyphae and macroconidia but is apparently still colonial (281; for a review, see reference 1088).
