Accumulates alpha-isopropylmalate and beta-isopropylmalate (427). Synthesis of the enzyme also requires the function of regulatory gene leu-3+ and the presence of alpha-isopropylmalate, which acts as inducer (427). Resistant to aminotriazole (D. D.
