A variable domain confers vegetative incompatibility when un-24^OR is transformed into spheroplasts of a heterotypic strain, un-24^PA. Growth is heat-sensitive, 34 vs 25°C. The growth defect at restrictiv temp. is partially oversome on media of high osmotic pressure.	IIL	B
